Former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized in Maine on Sunday, days after greeting well-wishers upon his arrival in Kennebunkport.

“President @GeorgeHWBush was taken to Southern Maine Health Care (@SMHCHealth) today after experiencing low blood pressure and fatigue,” Bush spokesman Jim McGrath wrote on Twitter.

The 41st president was hospitalized in Texas shortly after the death of his wife, Barbara Bush, in April. Bush wasadmitted to Houston Methodist Hospitalfor a blood infection, just a day after attending his wife’s service.

Bush will remain at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford for further monitoring for a few days, McGrath added.

Bush has spent part of every summer since his childhood in Kennebunkport, other than when he was serving in the Navy during World War II.

The former president attended an American Legion pancake breakfast on Saturday and met with local veterans, according to news reports. He was joined by Brent Scowcroft, his former national security adviser.
